Launch of ACS East & Northeast India International Chapter


→ The ACS East & Northeast India International Chapter was officially launched in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step towards strengthening the scientific ecosystem in the region.

→ The launch brought together leading scientists, researchers, and academic institutions, including participation from institutes such as IACS Kolkata, NISER Bhubaneswar, and BCKIC.

→ The chapter is envisioned as a platform for regional and international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building across East and Northeast India.

Workshop on Intellectual Property & Effective Science Communication


→ Conducted as part of the chapter launch, the workshop engaged students, PhD scholars, early-career researchers, and innovators in focused discussions on:

  • Intellectual Property (IP): Understanding patents, ownership, and research translation
  • Science Communication: Communicating research with clarity, purpose, and impact

→ The session provided practical insights from domain experts, strengthening participants’ ability to translate research into real-world applications

Workshop on Design Thinking for Innovation


→ As part of the Innovation Festival 2026, BCKIC in Partnership with the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar, conducted a session on “Design Thinking for Innovation”, engaging 1000+ participants and visitors across the event.


The session focused on:

    • Human-centred problem solving
    • Structured ideation and innovation processes
    • Encouraging students to translate ideas into solutions

→ TThe workshop contributed to fostering a strong innovation mindset among young learners and researchers.

8 March 2026 | International Women’s Day

Women Who Venture


→ BCKIC in collaboration with FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar Chapter, KIIT-Technology Business Incubator, and the ACS East & Northeast India International Chapter, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 by recognizing and empowering women innovators and entrepreneurs.

→ A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of “Women Who Venture”—a curated compilation showcasing innovations from women-led startups making meaningful contributions to society. The event also featured inspiring founder stories that reflected journeys of resilience, entrepreneurship, and impact.

→ The celebration was graced by Dr. Prangyan Paramita Mishra (Chairperson, FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar), and Dr. Rashmi Acharya, whose leadership continues to foster an inclusive and supportive innovation ecosystem.Women entrepreneurs were felicitated during the event, with mementos and handicrafts sourced from women-led enterprises, reinforcing the spirit of community-driven support and collaboration.

→ The event highlighted the growing role of women in driving innovation and entrepreneurship, aligning with the ACS Chapter’s vision of inclusive scientific and innovation ecosystems.

27–28 April 2026 | Workshop on Bioinformatics 1.0

From Sequence Analysis to Genomics & Phylogeny


→ Under the ACS East & Northeast India International Chapter, in collaboration with KIIT-TBI, a 2-day hands-on Bioinformatics workshop was conducted for college students, researchers, and early-stage learners.

The workshop provided practical training in:

  • Genome and sequence analysis
  • BLAST and database tools
  • Basics of genomics and phylogenetics

→ Participants gained exposure to integrating biological data with computational tools, enabling them to apply bioinformatics approaches in real-world research.

→ Expert sessions by Dr. Vipin Gupta (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GoI) and Dr. Nirjara Singhvi (KIIT-TEC) enriched the program with domain insights and applied perspectives.

Outcomes

  • Strengthened hands-on technical skills in bioinformatics
  • Enhanced understanding of data-driven biological research
  • Built capacity among students for interdisciplinary research and applications

→ The program contributed to building a skilled talent pool equipped with computational biology capabilities, and the growing role of bioinformatics in chemistry, aligning with the ACS Chapter’s focus on capacity building and scientific advancement.
